Thalassemia major is the most severe form of chronic familial anemias that result from the premature destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic). Thalassemia major is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait.

Thalassemia Symptoms

In Thalassemia Minor, the baby appear healthy at birth, but as time past we see these symptoms of Thalassemia Minor within the first few years of life :

• pale
• feed poorly
• jaundice
