Ingredients for making Buttermilk Fried Onions Recipe

4 onions
11/4 cups plain flour (maida)
1 teaspoon cornflour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon pepper powder
a pinch of soda bi-carb
salt to taste

Method for preparing Buttermilk Fried Onions Recipe

1. Peel and cut the onions into 12 mm. (½") roundels. Separate the roundels to get onion rings. Keep aside.

2. Combine the flour, cornflour, buttermilk, pepper powder, soda bi-carb and salt and make a batter of pouring consistency using some water.

3. Dip the onion rings in this batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown in colour.

4. Drain on absorbent paper.

5. Serve hot, sprinkled with the chaat masala.
